Using Play-Based Teaching Strategies to Promote Learning

This 90-minute training session is designed to provide paraeducators with a comprehensive understanding of play-based teaching techniques and practical strategies for implementation in diverse educational settings. Nicole Horton, M.Ed., BCBA

Nicole Horton is a highly regarded professional in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). With a career spanning over two decades, Nicole has made significant contributions as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), positively impacting the lives of numerous students, families, and fellow professionals. She completed her Masters in Special Education at Arizona State University in 2012 and obtained her BCBA certification in 2013.

Nicole's passion for her work is evident through her extensive experience, having started her journey in 2004. Her commitment to the field led her to acquire advanced training in Pivotal Response Training (PRT) and Naturalistic Developmental Behavioral Interventions (NDBIs). With a foundation rooted in real-world experience, Nicole spent five years as an instructional assistant paraprofessional in a California school district. This hands-on experience profoundly influenced her approach to training and supporting professionals, emphasizing the importance of collaboration among service providers.

Nicole's deep understanding of the complexities of Special Education and ABA, coupled with her genuine dedication to her students, fuels her mission to foster collaboration and bridge the gap between educational and in-home services.
