Supporting Trans and Non-binary Students
Class Length: 90 minutes
This session will give you the tools and resources you need to more deeply understand issues around gender and use this knowledge to support and empower trans and nonbinary students. Participants in this workshop will hear directly from those with both lived and professional experience working in the transgender community and leave with powerful, practical strategies that work in order to affirm and support the transgender community.
Presenter
Evan Johnson (they/them/theirs) is a nonbinary Romani Gen Z-er and the Director of Youth Programs for TFSS. They’ve fostered connection and understanding over the past eight years by sharing their own journey as transgender youth, student, and young professional with many audiences, from national conferences to local organizations. Evan has a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and helps train people — in healthcare, legal, education, and other environments — on gender diversity and policy. They are dedicated to educating, advocating, learning, and listening to create a safer world for all trans and gender diverse youth.
