CSEA Assistance Fund receives big donation from American Fidelity
In the wake of the Southern California fires, CSEA benefit provider American Fidelity donated $40,000 to the CSEA Dorothy Bjork Assistance Fund to assist members in need.
Association President Adam Weinberger received the donation from American Fidelity’s Chris Cuevas, Vice President, Regional Director, and Barry Healy, Regional Manager, during a presentation ceremony at CSEA headquarters.
“Being on the Dorothy Bjork Assistance Fund Committee for many years, I've seen the devastation firsthand of what our members go through, whether it's fires or, you name it. This is going to go a long way for our members. It’s going to help [our members] on the road to recovery,” said Weinberger.
Helping members when they need it most
CSEA takes care of its members on the job, but it also lends a helping hand in times of crisis. The Dorothy Bjork Assistance Fund provides emergency and humanitarian assistance to members when they need it most.
American Fidelity jumped into action when they heard CSEA members and their families were affected by the fires.
Cuevas explained that it wasn’t a matter of “what do we need to do to support [CSEA]--it was how quickly can we make something happen?”
A community partnership
Taking care of a community involves partnerships of support, and as a benefit provider and partner for over 30 years, American Fidelity wanted to do all they could to support our members.
“When you tell the story of American Fidelity and what it means to do what we do, you really can't do that without talking about CSEA,” says Cuevas. “This is a true partnership, and it really is a familial type of association.”
Cuevas explains that this donation was especially important to him because his mother-in-law is an active member, and his mother is a retired member of CSEA.
“It personally means a lot to our folks to be able to say we partner with CSEA and we support each other and everything that we do,” said Cuevas.
“I can't express my gratitude to American Fidelity for this generous contribution. Our partnership goes way back, and this is a testament to the good working relationship that we have and for years to come,” said Weinberger.
Assistance Fund relies solely on donations
Support for the Assistance Fund doesn’t come from union dues—it relies solely on donations from our CSEA family and our partners, like American Fidelity. If you’ve already made a donation, thank you for your generosity. If not, please consider how much your contribution will be appreciated by those members in need.
