Negotiations Update - September 21, 2022
This is one for CSEA's books. On Wednesday, September 21, 2022, CSEA and OVSD met for our second negotiations session. We are excited to announce an agreement that celebrates the essential contributions of OVSD’s classified professionals.
Tentative Agreement highlights include:
Salaries
Effective July 1, 2022, increase the 2022/23 Classified Salary Schedule by 10.0%.
In addition, the following classifications will receive the following changes in their salary schedule:
- Instructional Assistant-Special Education (Range 22 to 24)
- Instructional Assistant-Adapted Physical Education (Range 25 to Range 27)
- Instructional Assistant-Severely Disabled (Range 25 to Range 27)
- Instructional Assistant-Applied Behavior Analysis (Range 26 to Range 28)
- Lead Behavior-Instructional Assistant (Range 31 to 33)
- Speech and Language Assistant (Range 32 to 34)
- Instructional Assistant – Sign Language (Deaf/Hard of Hearing) (Range 23 to 25)
Health Benefits
Effective January 1, 2023 - Transition from the VEBA Health Insurance Trust to the CalPERS Health Insurance Trust. This transition will allow increased providers and plan selections and the ability for any unit member to elect to
opt out of the health and welfare benefits program provided by the District.
Effective January 1, 2023, the District shall contribute the following amounts for each full-time Unit Member towards medical, dental, vision, income protection, and life insurance:
- Employee Only from $9,900 → $11,400
- Employee plus 1 from $12,650 → $17,150
- Employee plus family from $15,450 → $21,450
Next Steps
The agreement is being processed by the CSEA Orange Field Office. CSEA will provide further updates to the membership via home e-mail and this website, including the timeline for ratification (election).
