Chapter 767 Congratulates Sandra Blackman, Winner of the Hayward Award for Excellence in Education
MSJC's CSEA chapter 767 congratulates Sandra Blackman, Associate Instructor of History at Mt. San Jacinto College, who is one of only four winners statewide of the California Community Colleges Hayward Award for Excellence in Education for 2023-24!
The Hayward Award for Excellence in Education program, established in 1989 and named in honor of former California Community College Chancellor Gerald C. Hayward, are presented annually to celebrate outstanding community college faculty members for their commitment to their students, college and profession. Blackman is an advocate of employing zero cost textbooks as well as a plethora of free and low-cost online sources. She incorporates the diverse backgrounds of her students – such as age, race, ethnicity and country of origin – into the history they are studying while honoring the validity of their own personal experiences.
Sandra also serves as the president of the associate faculty union (CWA) at MSJC and is a powerful advocate and organizer! Your chapter leadership applauds Professor Blackman's leadership and advocacy for our associate faculty colleagues.
Congratulations, sister!
