Re: Juneteenth Settlement Employee Claim Form

CSEA has reached a class action settlement ensuring compensation for classified employees who worked on the Juneteenth holiday in 2021, 2022, and/or 2023 but did not receive the holiday rate of pay for their work.

Because Juneteenth was signed into law on June 17, 2021, Charter Oak Unified School District was not prepared to designate the following day as a holiday. If you believe you worked for Charter Oak Unified School District on June 18, 2021, and qualify for compensation for that day, please submit a Juneteenth Settlement Employee Claim Form. Employees were correctly compensated for Juneteenth in 2022 and 2023.

During the summer of 2021, Summer School was in session Monday through Thursday each week. As a result, if you worked Summer School in 2021, it is unlikely that you worked on June 18th.

Below are the classifications the district believes may have been impacted by this settlement:

  • Enrichment Program
  • Maintenance & Operations
  • 11 & 12 month Employees


If you believe you qualify for compensation, even if not listed, you are encouraged to submit a claim form. The district will review and investigate all claims. Please click on the link below to be routed to the claim form.
