CSESAP: No from the District for 2025/2026 School Year
CSESAP Denied Again by District Leadership
Ad Hoc Committee Reinstated After Member Outcry and Unanimous Vote at January Chapter Meeting
In a December 2024 meeting with the chapter's CSESAP co-chairs, Superintendent Chris Brown and Assistant Superintendent Bob Presby indicated that the district will not opt in to the Classified School Employee Summer Assistance Program for the 2025/2026 school year.
The chapter's CSESAP committee was initially suspended by the outgoing executive board citing the district's financial situation for the suspension. During a lively debate and motion at the January 2025 chapter meeting, dedicated CSESAP committee members used the constitution and bylaws to bring a motion and reinstate the CSESAP Ad Hoc committee. That motion that passed in a unanimous vote by members in attendance.
"This was a tremendous demonstration of member power," said Juli Isola, CSESAP co-chair and newly elected executive board member who brought the motion to the floor. "The members in attendance really wanted to see the CSESAP committee continue it's work. CSESAP is such an important program that would benefit so many who face summer financial struggle. We need to keep trying."
"We are incredibly grateful for the commitment and visible support of our members," Juli said. "Thank you for showing up, sharing your stories, providing support for struggling members, emailing Trustees, and talking to your co-workers. Your dedication and solidarity continues to inspire us."
