January 30, 2025

Being a CSEA member is about more than paying dues – it's about using your voice and perspective to shape our Chapter's future. Our Chapter has six important standing committees that offer members opportunities to gain valuable leadership experience, develop crucial skills, and, most importantly, make a real difference for classified staff and students.

Here's a glimpse into the rewarding work of some key committees:

  • Auditing Committee: These dedicated individuals ensure our Chapter's finances are handled responsibly and transparently. They meticulously review financial records, identify any discrepancies, and report their findings to the membership, ensuring accountability and trust.
  • District Committees: Representing our Chapter at crucial meetings with district officials, these committees advocate for our needs and concerns. They actively participate in discussions, provide valuable input, and keep the Chapter informed about important developments.
  • Elections Committee: This vital committee oversees the democratic process within our Chapter. They ensure fair and accurate elections for Chapter leadership and contract ratifications, guaranteeing every member's voice is heard.
  • Membership Committee: Fueling our Chapter's growth, this committee actively recruits new members, fosters a welcoming environment, and encourages active participation in Chapter activities.
  • Negotiating Committee: This dedicated team plays a crucial role in securing a strong contract that protects our rights, improves our working conditions, and enhances our livelihoods. They conduct thorough research, negotiate tirelessly, and keep the membership informed throughout the process.

And let's not forget the Political Action Committee! This committee is crucial for making our voices heard at the local level. They:

  • Build relationships with school board trustees: These interactions allow us to understand their perspectives and advocate effectively for issues impacting classified staff.
  • Educate members on school board elections: The committee analyzes candidates' platforms and provides recommendations to help members make informed voting decisions.
  • Organize member participation in school board campaigns: This could involve phone banking, letter writing, or even attending candidate forums to show support for our endorsed candidates.
  • Advocate for classified staff issues directly with the school board: This might involve attending board meetings, submitting written testimony, or organizing delegations to voice our concerns.

By joining the Political Action Committee, you'll not only learn about the local political landscape but also play a vital role in shaping the decisions that directly impact your working conditions and the future of our schools.
